Give up your aul’ eggs for JCI

JCI Galway is delighted to announce its annual Easter Egg Event will once again take place on Easter Sunday April 4. This annual event is one of the highlights of JCI and the children of Galway’s calendar! The event involves local children bringing their “extra” Easter Eggs to Masses at Barna, Claregalway, Knocknacarra, Mervue and Renmore. These eggs will then be collected by volunteers from JCI Galway and given to the childrens’ ward at NUIG and local worthwhile charities including COPE Galway and St. Vincent de Paul.

In what must be every parent’s worst nightmare, the shock at the death of the little toddler in the accident at the weekend has sent shivers down the spines of us all. The horror of the moment is in all of our minds, but this must be a terrible period for the parents and family of little Oskars Dauksts.

The 16-month-old son of a Latvian mother and Irish father sustained serious injuries in a fall from the second floor window of an apartment at Lydon Court, Irwin's Lane early Saturday morning.

When we all know that the only type of calls you ever got were for the grants. I used to say “Deaglan anseo from (fill in the blank) Teo. Once they heard the word Teo, they knew I was ringing about the cash and put me straight through.
