The Galway City Council and the ESB must work together to remove the electricity poles on the Ballybaanmore Road so that road works in the area can be completed.
This is the view of Independent councillor Declan McDonnell. He said essential improvement works and road widening has been undertaken on this road, which is adjacent to Ballybrit Heights, but they cannot be completed because ESB poles are left exposed on the widened section.

Radio presenter Valerie Hughes' homebred Bernese Mountain Dog Carraigbern Miss Alice became the only Bernese Mountain Dog in Ireland to currently hold the title of GB Champion when she won the Challenge Certificate and went Reserve Best in Show at the Northern Bernese Mountain Dog Championship Show in the UK recently.
. A very proud Valerie said this is a special achievement and is made twice as special by the fact that it was a breed specialist who awarded her the CC. Mrs Jude Simonds, the judge, is one of the longest established breeders in the UK and has written a book on the breed.
