McDonnell calls for poles to be removed on Ballybaanmore Road

The Galway City Council and the ESB must work together to remove the electricity poles on the Ballybaanmore Road so that road works in the area can be completed.

This is the view of Independent councillor Declan McDonnell. He said essential improvement works and road widening has been undertaken on this road, which is adjacent to Ballybrit Heights, but they cannot be completed because ESB poles are left exposed on the widened section.

“The purpose of the road works was to widen the road and increase safety,” said Cllr McDonnell, “but until the exposed ESB poles are removed, the works cannot be completed and if anything the road is more dangerous.”

Cllr McDonnell is concerned that the poles could be a cause of a major accident. He has written to the council outlining his concerns and has asked that the issue be addressed immediately.
