Now is the best time of year to learn or improve your golf. For the next couple of months, the days remain fairly long and the temperature remains fairly mild. Most of the big competitions have passed so you will have less anxiety about making small changes to your motion. Coming into the winter is the best time to learn to swing the club or learn to swing it better because you will have ample time to put in the repetitions (practice) needed before spring.

The Galway Rape Crisis Centre, which runs the Asylum seeker and Refugee Clinic, has warned that there could be another Ryan Report in 20 years time unless urgent changes are made to protect the safety and well-being of people living in direct provision accommodation.

Executive director of the GRCC, Aoibheann McCann, expressed concerns this week that asylum seekers and refugees, placed in hostels and hotels, under direct provision, are being put at risk while private sector owners are making profits.

It was all very hush hush as the senator was on a private holiday with his son Teddy Jr, who had recently undergone a serious leg operation for cancer. Everyone was trying to be kind and leave them alone. Three of the 38 seminarians who will begin priesthood studies for Irish diocese this year are from County Galway. Two of the men are from Galway while one is from Tuam.

Twenty-six of the group will be based at the national seminary of St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, seven will study at St Malachy’s College, Belfast, two will go to the Beda College in Rome while one candidate is entering the pre-seminary discernment year in Valladolid, Spain.
