GALWEGIANS WHO have long wanted to write poetry, but are not sure how, and poets looking to improve their skills, should check out a series of New Year classes with acclaimed poet Kevin Higgins.

Classes for complete beginners and those who have been writing for some time takes place on Tuesdays (7pm to 8.30pm, starting January 17) and Fridays (2pm to 3.30pm, starting January 20). The Advanced Poetry Workshop, for those who have had poems published in magazines, online, etc, is on Thursdays, 2pm to 4pm, starting January 19.
