Drama workshops for teens

KEEP YOUR eyes open around town during the Galway Arts Festival for unexpected entertainment with pop-up theatre performances on the street.

These performances will be the result of two evening workshops which will be held at the Foróige youth café, Fairgreen, (opposite the bus station), to encourage teens to devise their own physical theatre.

Music on Inishbofin

The concerts start on July 16 with Eleanor Shanley, who will be joined by guitarist Frankie Lane and Paul Kelly. On July 23, Steve and Joe Wall (The Walls, The Stunning), will take to the stage.

Indeed the artist’s old nickname ‘Little JB’ comes from his physical and vocal resemblance to Brown. However this is unmistakably Lee Fields, a very different talent.

The Adventures of Shay Mouse

With a cast of 32 plus a live band, the production is a new stage musical adapted from the children’s novel by Pat McCabe, first published in 1985.

The story of a fighting man

JOHNNY KILBANE, the Irish-American boxer who remains the longest reigning World Featherweight Champion of all time, is the subject of a film to be shown at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Croí Trodach - A Fighting Heart, directed by Des Kilbane, a relative of Johnny, will be shown in the Cinemobile, outside the Town Hall Theatre, on Saturday July 13 at 6pm (as Gaeilge) and on Sunday 14 at 10am (in English).
