Galway Fringe Festival 2013

THE GALWAY Fringe Festival returns next month for a feast of music, theatre, art, cabaret, and literature from more than 100 local, Irish, and international acts.

The festival runs from Tuesday July 12 to Sunday 30 and will begin with a concert from Galway born, London based, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Julie Hawk plays The Factory on Friday 12 at 8pm. Admission is €10.

Another main musical event is A Sense Of Place; A Place Of Sense in the Galway City Museum on July 20 at 4pm. Five international musicians will play eight modern classical compositions, including the world premiere of a composition by John Maxwell Geddes.

Highlights of the theatre programme include Dario Fo’s humorous and politically insightful one man play The Tale of A Tiger in the Townhouse Bar from July 20 to 25 at 1pm; Made To Shiver by Rory O’Sullivan in The Cube, NUIG, from July 26 to 28; and McWellman’s Obie award winning Terminal Hip produced by Selkie Theatre at The Factory.

A series of new and emerging theatre can be seen in The Bentley, Eyre Square, with three shows running each day.

The festival will also host the Art of Galway Exhibition at the Dominican Hall in the Claddagh, showcasing the work of more than 50 local artists.

Tickets are available from the festival box-office in The Factory, Abbeygate Street, from July 10. Tickets will be available on the door of each venue on the day of the performance. Tickets are currently available through www.galwayfringe.ie
