Abortion rates are "spiralling" in Ireland, according to the organisers of a "March For Life" which took place in Salthill on Saturday.
The organisers of the regional march, the Pro Life Campaign, said the purpose of Saturday’s event was to "raise awareness of Ireland’s spiralling abortion rate since the introduction of legal abortion in Ireland", while urging the Government to take "serious steps" towards implementing measures to reduce the number of abortions.

The contract signing for the €12 million upgrade of Oranmore Train Station will take place next week.
Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton TD, has confirmed that she has already secured €9 million in funding from the Urban Regeneration and Redevelopment Fund and an additional €3 million from her own Department in order to redevelop the station.

Theft of pedal cycle
Between 7pm on Friday May 13 and 1am on Saturday May 14 two bikes were stolen from Spanish Arch area. A grey Dawes racer with blue handlebars and a black Fugi Absolute bike were taken.
