To support customers unable to get to the bank during the week, AIB is opening two branches on Saturdays until the end of March. The branches in Lynch’s Castle and the Tuam Road will open from 11am to 3pm every Saturday until March 28. While the branches will not operate a cash service , the opening will give customers the chance to call into the branch to discuss their mortgage, personal, or business finance needs.

As more and more disciplines are continually becoming involved in the Galway City School of Judo, the school is now becoming a “one stop shop” for martial arts enthusiasts throughout Galway city and county. Its state of the art custom-built gym, is home not only for judo, but also a number of other martial arts disciplines and training, including a personal training gym.

Lifesaving teams from Galway featured among the winners at the Irish Water Safety’s National Irish Pool Lifesaving Championships in Limerick.
The Galway junior girls team that comprised Sorchal Jennings, Grainne Kennedy, Naoise O’Flaherty, Lisa Scully, and Aimee Walsh finished in first place in the junior team pool lifesaving final, ahead of Clare and Wicklow.

The Galway Simon Community is calling on Galway women to “put homelessness on the run” by taking part in the 2009 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin on Monday June 1.

After the disastrous rout in the 2002 General Election Fine Gael was reduced to 30 seats. They have since steadily rebuilt the party. Over recent months they have out-polled FF – the latest poll gave them a 10 point lead, albeit with a lower rating of 32 per cent. During the last election I predicted they could not win because they had simply too many seats to make up.
They now have a solid platform of more than 50 deputies. They got a good intake of new articulate TDs in 2007. Leo Varadkar, Lucinda Creighton, Dr James O’Reilly, and Kieran O’Donnell are all making a good impression.
