Roscam Amenity Park will open in May and the new recreational facility will have tennis courts, playing pitches, a playground, and walk-ways overlooking Galway Bay.
The news of the opening has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway City East candidate Barra Nevin.
“This is great news for an area which has ‘mushroomed’ in recent years,” he said. “The timing is to be welcomed as children will be on holidays and evenings getting longer. Such an amenity is important to encourage healthy living for the young and acts as a place to meet and make new friends.”
Mr Nevin understands that the some of the park will not open for the summer and is seeking clarification on this from City Hall.
