Green Party Cllr Niall Ó Brolcháin along with this fellow Green Local Election candidates will do a sponsored walk from Athenry to Tuam.
The Greens will walk along the proposed route of the second phase of the Western Rail Corridor from Athenry to Tuam. The sponsored walk will be to raise funds for the Galway Greens in the run up to the Local Elections and to promote one of the few significant public transport projects outside of Dublin.
“Phase one of the Western Rail corridor from Ennis to Athenry - linking Cork, Limerick, and Galway - is due to open later this year despite the cutbacks and the recession,” said Cllr Ó Brolcháin. “This is due to the hard work of so many people in the west over many years. It is fairly unique in Ireland in that it is a community led project.”
