Unless Government borrowing is curbed and “a culture of saving” comes into force, pension reserve funds will be raided and “our children’s working lives will extend way beyond their 65th birthdays”.
This is the view of Libertas founder Declan Ganley who was speaking at a recent public meeting in Tuam. He said that if Ireland is to lift itself out of recession, it must “exercise prudence in our borrowings and take proactive steps to encourage economic activity”.

A seven month sentence was imposed on a woman who used a tin-foil lined bag to rob €630 worth of perfume from a city centre, however, it is now uncertain how much of that sentence she will actually serve after it was revealed that she had served only two days of a sentence imposed last May for shop lifting.

Following the success of the French interaction camps for secondary school students, this summer Gort Ard, Salthill, is adding a Spanish camp. The camps are a unique blend of language teaching and activities, together with French or Spanish students attending a parallel English language course. The French camps take place throughout June and the Spanish camp is in July. Students can attend on a day or a residential basis.
