Leviathan goes on despite no McWilliams

Due to unavoidable changes in commitments to filming a major new TV series, economist David McWilliams will not be able to host the Leviathan show on Sunday at 7pm in the Meyrick Hotel as part of Cúirt.

However John Murray, the award-winning presenter of RTÉ’s The Business as well as being a familiar voice on Morning Ireland, will replace Mr McWilliams as host for the event. Mr Murray is a former head of the Government Information Services and is the author of Now That’s What I Call Jargon, which rips up pretentious and meaningless business jargon for the sake of the English language.

At the show, Mr Murray will be joined by poet Katy Lederer; Kathy Sheridan of The Irish Times, and Dr Alan Ahearne, special advisor to the Minister for Finance and former adviser to Alan Greenspan at the US Federal Reserve. They will discuss whether economists have replaced politicians as natural leaders. There will be satirical music from Paddy Cullivan and film from Derek O’Connor.
