An English man who urinated on an unmarked patrol car, threatened to cut the throats of garda officers and then attempted to bite one of them, was given a chance in court this week to pay €350 to charity.

People in south and east Galway whose houses have been flooded are being advised by the HSE West to take simple precautions to prevent illness before re-occupying their homes.
A spokesperson for the local health authority’s environmental department warned that the floodwater that entered homes in the area may cause sickness.

Having recently launched a Home Care Service, The Village Care Centre will offer free home care packages to suitable candidates over the coming fortnight. The service will offer three two hourly visits per week for the next two weeks.
