Two men charged with allegedly being in possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life have been further remanded on continuing bail for the service of the book of evidence.
Tommy McDonagh (26 ) with an address at 293 Castlepark, Ballybane, appeared at Galway District Court last week charged with the discharge of a firearm being reckless as to whether any person was injured or not, being in possession a firearm, a sawn-off 12 gauge single barrel shotgun, with intent to endanger life, and being in possession of ammunition, 12 gauge shotgun cartridges, with intent to endanger life at Castlepark on February 21, 2009.
Also in court was co-accused, John Paul Sweeney (25 ) with addresses given as 102 Fearann Ri, Doughiska, and 21 Cnoc Na Cille, Ballybane. He is charged with being in possession of a firearm, a sawn-off single barrel Marlin shotgun with intent to endanger life, and being in possession of ammunition, 12 gauge shotgun cartridges, with intent to endanger life at the same location and date. Sweeney is further charged with allegedly intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to a man and with assaulting the same man causing him harm.
The court heard that the book of evidence was not ready and Inspector Ernie White applied for a further adjournment.
Judge Mary Fahy granted the inspector’s application and remanded both accused men on continuing bail to January 11, 2010, for the service of the book of evidence.
