THE ATHENRY vocalist, composer, and conductor Julie Feeney will play the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday September 24.
Julie first came to attention ion 2005 with her debut album 13 Songs. Its mix of pop, avant garde, and classical marked her out as an individual talent on the Irish scene, a fact acknowledged when she won the inaugural Choice Music Prize in 2006.

SING SING Records, a New York based company, has just issued a vinyl single of ‘Some Hope’, by the Tuam punk band Blaze X.
Blaze X were one of the great cult Irish punk bands of the early 1980s and featured future Saw Doctor Davy Carton and the late, very talented songwriter Paul Cunniffe. ‘Some Hope’ was first released in a limited edition of 500 in 1980. The original 45 has in recent years fetched up to £200 on the collectors market.

THE ACCLAIMED poet Kevin Higgins will teach creative writing classes in the Westside Library in September and October.
The class will run for eight weeks, commencing the week of September 21. They will take place on Mondays, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The cost is €70. Places must be paid for in advance.
