SING SING Records, a New York based company, has just issued a vinyl single of ‘Some Hope’, by the Tuam punk band Blaze X.
Blaze X were one of the great cult Irish punk bands of the early 1980s and featured future Saw Doctor Davy Carton and the late, very talented songwriter Paul Cunniffe. ‘Some Hope’ was first released in a limited edition of 500 in 1980. The original 45 has in recent years fetched up to £200 on the collectors market.
Davy, with number one Blaze X fan Leo Moran went on to form The Saw Doctors. Today’s crop of young Tuam bands The Ralphs, The Coonics, and Stone Lakes all feature cover versions of Blaze X songs.
