THE GALWAY Boy Singers, and director Mark Keane, are seeking new members this season and boys aged seven to 12 are eligible to apply.
In 2009 the choir received first prize in the Youth Choir Competition at the Limerick Festival of Church Music. The choir has toured Europe and won prizes in the Dublin Feis Ceoil and the Cork International Choral Festival.

THE GALWAY Youth Orchestra will give its first concert of 2010 in The Black Box Theatre on Saturday at 8pm.
The concert will feature performances by the junior, intermediate, and senior orchestras under conductors Michael Dooley, Joanne Cater, and Peter Berrill.

STAGECOACH THEATRE Arts and GMIT have announced an extended six week collaboration for the acting for the screen classes.
The classes are held in partnership with The Galway Film Centre. The module is now expanded and gives young film makers an opportunity to work on dialogues, monologues, and emotive response camera work with students in a safe environment.

A ‘MANTRUM’ is the term for when a grown man throws a tantrum when he cannot have his way. It’s also the name of an exciting jazz quintet who play Galway tomorrow.
Mantrum play Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, Headford, tomorrow at 10pm. The band are Swedish saxophonists Thomas Backman and Nils Berg, and Irish jazzers Cormac O’Brien (bass), Shane O’Donovan (drums), Shane Latimer (guitar).

GALWAY POET and short story writer Susan Millar DuMars will host a creative writing class in the GMIT next month.
The course takes place on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and runs for eight weeks, starting on February 10. Susan will give support, instruction, and feedback to students who are interested in writing short stories, novels, or poetry.
