GALWAY CAN treat itself to a double helping of laughs over the next week as the Róisín Dubh stages two comedy shows in Comedy Comedy and The Laughter Lounge.
Comedy Comedy takes place on Saturday at 8pm upstairs in the Róisín Dubh. Performing on the night will be New Zealand born, Irish based, comic Danny Dowling and Fred Cooke.
This is a showcase for new, emerging, and local talent and will be hosted by John Donnellan, winner of the Stand Up Showdown at the Galway Comedy Festival 2008.
On the night, Danny and John will do a short set together, a series of ‘viral internet videos’ and sketches, projected onto a big screen, and then a section called This Is Not The News, followed by a short comedy film. Admission is €10.
Scotland’s Kevin Bridges headlines The Laughter Lounge on Wednesday at 8.30pm. He has appeared on Michael Mclntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and 8 out of 10 cats. The Sunday Times called him “splendidly original, hilarious, and a little twisted”, while The Herald declared him to be “the most exciting talent in Scottish stand up”.
Support comes from Aidan Bishop, brother of Des, and the MC is Karl Spain. There will also be sketches from Foil Arms & Hog. Monty will be DJing afterwards. Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
