HOW DO the security guards in the Jeu de Paume see the museum? What is going on inside the LA library? Just how do we interact with the buildings we encounter every day?
These are some of the ideas that will be explored in a series of video works and performances from the artists Jarrod Barker (Canada ), Hugh Cooney (Ireland ), Amanda Gutiérrez (Mexico ), and Sarah Shamash (Canada ) in the next Live @ 8.
The prestigious Parisian contemporary centre, the Jeu de Paume, is converted to that of the workplace, as Sarah Shamash guides the audience through the eyes of the gallery’s officials in her work Security Guards.
Amanda Gutiérrez’s Tracking Memory is an animation that reflects on urban environments and how we move within them. In Jarrod Barker’s A Girl With Doll, The Los Angeles Public Library, filled with symbolic props become the backdrop to a cyclical narrative.
Hugh Cooney will complete the evening, presenting an interwoven mix of video works and live performance.
Live @ 8 takes place from 8pm to 10pm on Wednesday January 27 in No 8 Bar, The Docks. Admission is free.
