New book delves into the lives of Irish artists

TEA’N’TURPS, a new book by the South African born, Irish based, artist Lynda Cookson, takes a humorous look at the lives and work of 12 contemporary Irish artists.

The book features Lynda’s interviews with artists Kieran Tobin, Francis Kennedy, Frank Danford, Charlotte Kelly, Yanagi, John Dinn, Cheryll Kinsley-Potter, John Keating, Monica Jones, Claudio Viscardi, Eileen Healy, and Philip French.

Each article explores their philosophies, influences, and techniques and is interspersed with humour, anecdotes, and human interest angles. The book also features full colour reproductions of works by the artists and their contact details.

Tea’n’Turps will be launched in the Galway City Library, St Augustine Street, on Wednesday January 27 with a book signing from 6pm to 8pm. There will also be wine and a painting demonstration.

There will be further book signings and painting demonstrations in the Spiddal Book Club, Spiddal Library on Thursday February 4 at 7.30pm and in the Westside Library, Westside, on Tuesday February 9 at 6pm.
