Fergal Walsh of Athenry AC was the winner of the Craughwell AC 5km in aid of the club's new facility development.
Walsh produced a good time of 16.36, ahead of Jack Miskella in second and Ben Ryan third, both of Craughwell AC. The first woman home was Athenry AC’s Deirdre Brophy in 19.32.

Matt Bidwell of GCH made a winning first appearance at the final event in the 2016 Galway 5km series in Athenry on Tuesday.
Bidwell outclassed the field of more than 600, taking a clear win on 15.32. Owen Byrne was second in 16.32 and Philip Niland was third.

Gary Higgins of GCH took a comfortable victory in the fourth race of the 5km. Higgins clocked 16.32 in this race in Tuam, winning by a clear margin from Ruaidhri Geraghty, also GCH, who ran 16:54, and Damien Larkin of Craughwell AC who ran 16:59 for third.

Sean Breathnach of Galway City Harriers took pride of place at the National Senior Indoor Championships at the Athlone IT arena last weekend.
Winning the national shot putt title yet again, Breathnach also broke the national indoor record. He threw a massive 18.16 metres to break the 35-years-old national Indoor record of 18.03, and also threw 18.13 and 17.67 in a superb series of throws. Sean’s brother Micheal took bronze in the shot, making it a great day for the Breathnach family.
