Fallon in top form

Jamie Fallon of Craughwell AC was the clear winner of the senior men’s 6k at Castlegar AC's open cross country races on Saturday.

Fallon led from the gun, finishing in 19.30, a minute clear of Andrew O Donnghaile of GCH and Peter O'Sullivan of Craughwell. GCH, led by O Donnghaile, with Lloyd Malcolm, Gearoid Hynes and Timmy Jones, won the team event.

In both 3km short course races, GCH's Niamh Hennelly and Brian O'Connor were also decisive winners. Hennelly took the women's prize over Gerardine Nally of Castlegar AC and Trish Garrett, while Brian O'Connor took an equally commanding win, from GCH junior Gary Martyn. and Brian Bruton of GCH/.

Aisling Joyce of Claremorris AC took the junior race, ahead of Aoife King of GCH and Sarah Gilhooley of Athenry AC, while in the senior women's 4k, evergreen Margaret Sheridan of GCH stormed to a fine win ahead of Emily Bruton of GCH and Marie Conneely. The junior men’s 5k was won by Eanna O Cualain of GCH, with clubmate Aaron Brennan having a good run to take second, and third home was Jack Miskella of Craughwell AC.
