A District Court judge is hopeful that Galway City Council will consider granting a casual trading licence to a Romanian rose seller so that he can “go straight” from now on and ply his trade lawfully on the city’s streets.

The Galway Clinic was awarded €8.2 million this year under the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF).
The NTPF arranges for public patients to be treated in private hospitals, and this year four private hospital operators received over half the payments made by the fund.

A Galway transvestite was attacked in Galway city after spending an evening at the Blondie gig last Thursday. The man, who goes by the name of Sammy, was pushed to the ground outside the Front Door bar and had his pearl necklaces broken and his wig ripped off by a man who he claims was, “aggressive and extremely threatening,” and who also needed a lot of restraining.
