GTI STUDENTS will hold the GTI Community College Christmas Party, to raise funds for charity, in Massimo on Monday December 21 from 9.30pm.

The aim of the event is to raise enough money to get home help for Ballinasloe woman Sammy Brill so she can get out of Portiuncula Hospital, even for a weekend. Also benefiting on the night shall be another local girl Valerie Duggan, from Abbeyknockmoy, who requires a stem cell operation in China to restore her sight.

The market has nine permanent artisan stalls, selling re-styled vintage clothes, quirky printed goods, antique rugs from around the world, knitted products, hand-made jewellery, kitchenalia, and products from an organic, free-range butcher.

€20 million investment in local medical company is strong vote of confidence in local workforce, say

A major financial investment in medical company Merit Medical Systems’ facility in Galway is a strong vote of confidence in the local workforce, according to local Fianna Fáil TD Frank Fahey.

The company which develops medical devices for use in hospitals worldwide, is to invest €20 million at its Galway facility for the research and development of a new product. Six highly-skilled jobs are to be created as a result. The investment is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
