New Inn mummers festival kicks off at end of month

The annual New Inn Mummers Festival, which was postponed because of the bad weather, will now be staged at the New Inn Leisure Centre on Saturday January 23.

The postponement has forced the committee to reduce the festival to a one night event this year. This will mean that the senior and junior competitions will both be staged on Saturday night.

Galway to have its say on Draft Development Plan

Galwegians will be able to have their say on the Draft City Development Plan 2011 - 2017 once it goes on public display at the end of this month.

The Draft Development Plan was discussed at Monday’s city council meeting. Among its recommendations are that 30 per cent of the proposed developments to the Docks and to Ceannt Station be residential and that 20 per cent of these units be for social and affordable housing.
