Sinn Féin to run two in Ballinasloe

Sinn Féin may run two candidates, county councillor Dermot Connolly and town councillor Michael Breathnach, in the Ballinasloe ward for May’s Local Election.

SF will hold its election selection convention for the Ballinasloe Local Election Area in Gullane’s Hotel tomorrow at 8pm. The meeting will be chaired by Sen Trevor Ó Clochartaigh.

Councillors wants city museum open seven days a week

Talks are due to take place between the Galway City Council and the Galway Volunteer Centre about an initiative which could see the Galway City Museum open seven days a week.

The museum is currently open Tuesdays to Saturdays and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Labour city councillor Niall McNelis feels the city would be better served if the museum could be open seven days a week.
