Preliminary figures from the annual first destination survey of NUI Galway's 2008 Graduates' Survey indicates that nearly 91 per cent of the University's graduates entered employment or further study on completion of their degree. The data contained in the preliminary report is an annual survey of almost 4,000 graduates on NUI Galway full-time programmes. The survey is conducted nine months after graduation and gives an invaluable insight into employment opportunities and further study trends.

A 27-year-old man charged with the murder of Claregalway man Kieran Cunningham has been further remanded in custody for the service of a book of evidence.
Alexsander Nadwodny, a Polish national with no fixed abode, was brought before the summer sittings of Galway District Court last Tuesday morning where an application was made by Inspector Pat McHugh to have him further remanded in custody, by consent.

Gardai at Blackrock in Cork are seeking the public’s help in locating the next of kin of a 61-year-old man who died recently.
Michael O’Fallon lived at Mahon in Cork and passed away on July 13. It is believed he was originally from England but lived in the Galway/Aran Islands area in the 1990s.
