Further remand for man accused of Cunningham murder

A 27-year-old man charged with the murder of Claregalway man Kieran Cunningham has been further remanded in custody for the service of a book of evidence.

Alexsander Nadwodny, a Polish national with no fixed abode, was brought before the summer sittings of Galway District Court last Tuesday morning where an application was made by Inspector Pat McHugh to have him further remanded in custody, by consent.

Nadwodny was first brought before the court last week charged with the murder, contrary to common law, of 20-year-old Kieran Cunningham at Williamsgate Street on June 3 last.

Mr Cunningham of Slievefinn, Claregalway, was stabbed a number of times moments after leaving a nightclub near Eyre Square.

Judge Aeneus McCarthy this week remanded the accused in continuing custody to appear before Harristown District Court on August 14 for the service of the book of evidence.
