‘Out of control’ Newcastle teen to be detained

An “out of control” teenager who was found breaking into cars, swinging a metal pipe in public, and obsructing gardai has been placed in detention for a total of 19 months.

Andrew O’Hagan (19) with an address at 83 Hazel Park, Newcastle, and 33 Crescent View, Riverside, appeared at Galway District Court last Monday charged with being intoxicated in a public place and obstruction of a garda at Ballinfoyle Park on November 16, 2008, threatening and abusive at Eyre Square on February 28, 2009, theft at Sally Longs, 33 Abbeygate Street, on March 10, 2009, possession of a pipe and threatening and abusive behaviour at Eglinton Street on March 27, 2009, and the unauthorised taking and interference of an MPV, theft, and criminal damage at Bru Na Mara, Salthill on April 26, 2009.
