New figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show that 4,161 new electric vehicles were registered in July, making it a record monthly total for EV sales in Ireland.
EV sales last month were also up 52 per cent (2,729) on July 2022, while 18,458 new electric cars have been registered so far this year, in comparison to 11,175 on the same period last year.

German premium tyre manufacturer Continental Tyres’ key piece of advice to any Irish motorist whose vehicle falls victim to the so called ‘tyre extinguishers’ is ‘don’t drive it’.
According to news reports over the past number of weeks, the tyre extinguishers are a network of environmental activists who are waging a protest campaign where they deflate the tyres of SUVs and leave a flyer on the vehicle’s windscreen explaining that they have deflated one or more of the tyres ‘because driving around in urban areas in your massive vehicle has huge consequences for others’.
