The Road Safety Authority’s Check it Fits Roadshow is on the road again, visiting Tesco, Castlebar, on Monday October 11 from 10am and 5pm.

Pink Ribbon Day is today, Friday October 8, and Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society, is asking the people of Mayo to come together and support the pink appeal by buying a ribbon, badge or key ring.

Fifty-three homes in Mayo have been found to have high levels of cancer-causing radon gas so far this year, according to figures released by the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland. Radon is the second biggest cause of lung cancer after smoking and is linked to up to 200 lung cancer deaths each year in Ireland.
