European top five for McDonnell

Galway City Harriers’ Robert McDonnell continues his excellent season, having claimed a top five place at the European Under 20 Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.

McDonnell, who raced over 200m at the prestigious event, placed fifth overall in a top-class final, clocking 21.19 behind UK winner Derek Kinlock.

Currently level on six points with Tipperary, Galway are behind on the head-to-head tie-breaker after the defeat in Semple Stadium. As a result they will need to better Tipperary’s result away to Waterford, a match which takes place at the same time in Walsh Park.
