Defending champions Galway are looking to book their place in the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League final on Sunday when they take on Cork in the semi-final in Nowlan Park Kilkenny (5pm ).
Should Galway progress to the final, there is the exciting prospect of playing in front of 3000 spectators as the fixture is being used as a trial event for the return of supporters to games.
Galway and Cork both topped their respective groups in the round robin stages of the competition and both received a bye into the semi-final. As a result the two teams should be well rested coming into the game.
Galway, who defeated Clare and Limerick in their group stages, will be without Heather Cooney as she suffered a cruciate knee injury in Galway’s victory over Clare.
The sides last met in the group stages of the All-Ireland Championship back in November when two spectacular sideline puck conversions by Rebecca Hennelly, worth two points each, proved the difference between the sides on the day as Galway ran out 0-15 to 0-12 winners. Galway also overcame Cork by a single point in the All-Ireland semi final in 2019.
There is very little between the teams and both will be looking for victory which will ensure they get an extra competitive game ahead of the championship start.
