Top class athletes, including Galway Olympian and world silver medallist, Olive Loughnane, will be in Loughrea this weekend for Sunday’s five mile race. Loughnane will start the annual five-mile road race, hosted by the Loughrea Athletic Club, while Britain’s 5,000m champion Freya Murray will race in the event, which starts at 2pm.Murray has twice defeated former world cross country champion Benita Willis this month - in the Great Yorkshire Run in early September and in the recent Great Capital Run in London. The race will be preceded by a junior fun run for boys and girls u-15 at 1pm. Loughnane will also attend the club’s seminar on Saturday 6pm entitled "Train hard, race easy”.
