The Lakeland Choral Society from Florida, USA, will play a concert at St Nicholas Church on Monday at 8pm as part of their tour of Ireland.
The event will feature music from several traditions, including America music from the New England colonial composers to folk songs and spirituals. Included are two “fugueing” tunes by William Billings, the folk hymns “Promised Land” and “I Need Thee Every Hour” and spirituals such as “I’m Going to Sing,” “Down in the River to Pray” and “Give me Jesus.”
