Local man Liam McDwyer had dreamed of reaching Everest Base Camp since he was a young boy and read a book about the Himalayas. Over forty years later, and with encouragement from his wife, he decided that 2022 was the year in which he would set about making his dream come true. Now one year later Liam has completed the 130km trek, climbing 5,364m in the process, and has added a big tick against his “reach Mt. Everest Base Camp” bucket list box.

Local TD and Government Chief Whip, Hildegarde Naughton and Seantor Sean Kyne, have confirmed that the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, will officially open the new N59 Moycullen Bypass on December 11. In January, 2022, Minister Naughton had turned the sod on the project which involved the construction of 4.3km of new national secondary road, improvement to 3km of local roads, 1.7 km of accommodation roads and 10 structures.
