Galway Travellers to make voting call alongside Ireland’s referendum information campaign

Galway Traveller Movement will be welcoming the Chair of Ireland’s independent electoral commission tomorrow Friday, January 26, as Ms Justice Maire Baker visits the Ballybane Community Resource Centre to talk to Travellers from across Galway city and country about voting in the upcoming March 8 referendums.

The information campaign for the two March 8 Referendums begins today Thursday, January 25. Ms. Justice Baker is using the first day of the Electoral Commission’s referendum campaign to travel to Galway to meet Travellers who have been active in promoting electoral participation within the community, talk all things referendum and voting, and learn more about the work of Galway’s Traveller Movement.

Galway Game Jam hosts Global Game Jam Site

Local organisation Galway Game Jam is proud to be able to bring another event to Galway this weekend. Galway Game Jam normally hosts their own events in and around the city; the end of January marks another year where the group is hosting a Jam Site in the city for Global Game Jam 2024.

Global Game Jam has run this event every year since 2009, with the intent of getting people out of their comfort zones and jumping at the opportunity to make something creative over a 48-hour time period. The challenge lights a fire underneath people who may let being “perfect” get in the way of just having fun and learning something new, as well as meeting new people who share the same passions.
