The pedestrianisation of Eglinton Street must be seriously considered as it would extend the main shopping area of the city centre, making it more accessible for shoppers.

This is the view of Fianna Fáil councillor Michael J Crowe who wants to see further pedestrianisation of the city centre as part of Galway’s bid for the National Smarter Travel Areas Competition.

The Long Walk Market is a new business venture and arts space, which will be held every Saturday, upstairs at Nimmo’s Restaurant by the Spanish Arch.

The market has nine permanent artisan stalls, selling re-styled vintage clothes, quirky printed goods, antique rugs from around the world, knitted products, hand-made jewellery, kitchenalia, and products from an organic, free-range butcher.
