STARTING THIS Sunday at 9pm, the Róisín Dubh will begin its new Open Mic nights in the upstairs bar. This new weekly night takes its inspiration from the classic open mic format.

Every performer gets a free pint and the most popular performer will win the night, as judged by the audience. So whether you a budding singer songwriter, a politically motivated slam poet, or even a misunderstood stand-up comic, this is your chance to perform. The hosts on the night will be Keith and Shane.

MICHAEL ENDE’S classic fable Momo comes to the Town Hall studio next week in an imaginative new staging by Sorcas Quircas and directed by Pipa the Clown.

Momo, also known as The Grey Gentlemen or The Men in Grey, is a fantasy novel first published in 1973. Like Ende’s best-known work, The Neverending Story, it uses fantasy and symbolism to deal with real issues such as the nature and importance of time, the power of stories, friendship, compassion, and the value of the small but precious things that make life worth living.

THE FIRST Silent Disco of 2011 takes place in the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 11pm with DJs Gugai and Graham Dolan going head to head.

Pick up your headphones on the way in and switch between the two DJs to see who is playing the songs you most want to dance to. If you need a break, take the headphones off and marvel at the bizarre spectacle of a room full of people dancing and singing different songs, even though no music is to be heard.
