The show is open to the public and comedians, and admission is free. Every week there is a lively crowd and a load of up and coming comedians performing. Each comedian is allowed seven to eight minutes for his/her set.

ALAN BENNETT’S 1973 comedy, Habeas Corpus, will be performed by the Cortoon Lavally Drama Group in the Nuns Island Theatre tomorrow and Saturday.

Habeas Corpus follows the attempts of Dr Arthur Wicksteed to woo his attractive patient Felicity Rumpers. Wicksteed’s wife, Muriel, is, in turn, lusting after the charming head of the BMA, Sir Percy Shorter, who, as well as being Wicksteed’s old rival, turns out to be Felicity’s father. Expect confusion, farce, and many laughs.

PIANIST AND composer Eamon Brett, who goes under the stage-name of Miser Ebby, has released his debut album Wires.

The album features 12 pieces of music, all written by Eamon Brett. Eamon sings and plays piano, glockenspiel, melodica, and ‘piano percussion noises’ on Wires. Also on the album are vocalist Méadhbh Sullivan; Karl Hand (drums), Aongus MacAmhlaigh (cello), George Guilfoyle (bass), Nellie Murphy (voice), along with backing vocals from Kevin, Laura, Caoimhe, and Éanna Brett and Ed Moran.

Novelist Chris Binchy to go Over The Edge

THE NOVELIST Chris Binchy will be among the featured readers at the Over The Edge: Open Reading in the Galway City Library on Thursday February 23 at 6.30pm.

Chris Binchy studied English and Spanish at UCD and later graduated from the master's course in creative writing at Trinity. To date he has published four novels. His debut, The Very Man, was shortlisted for Irish Novel of the Year in 2003. This was followed by People Like Us, Open-Handed, and Five Days Apart.
