Globalization Partners plans year two of successful internship programme in Galway

Globalization Partners, the leading global employment platform that simplifies remote team building by making it fast and easy for companies to hire anyone, anywhere within minutes, launched its very first global internship program here in Galway in spring 2021.

Four interns were chosen from the applications received and joined the software development team for their 13-week paid program in May 2021. Each of the graduates had recently completed their studies in GMIT and their experience with Globalization Partners began by logging on to their laptop with three key goals: challenge yourself, make a difference, and have fun.

Inflation reaches record highs but will the ECB raise interest rates?

Inflation figures released by the Central Statistics Office yesterday reveal that Irish inflation hit a record high. Prices on average, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), were 5.5 percent higher in December compared with December 2020. This is the largest annual change in prices since June 2001 when annual inflation was 5.3 percent. This increase in Irish inflation is mirrored in the euro area. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) – the European Central Bank’s (ECB) preferred measurement of inflation - stood at 5 percent in December 2021 according to Eurostat’s flash estimate, which was the highest level recorded since the euro was introduced in 1999.

Average cost of crime for most companies is €47,000, survey shows

According to a new survey of crime against businesses in Ireland, antisocial behaviour at 30% was the largest type of crime experienced since January 2020.

vandalism and burglary were next at 28% each, while assaults were at 17%.The survey to determine the type of crime, the costs and the importance of security among Irish businesses was conducted by Amárach Research for Netwatch, the global leaders in Proactive Video Monitoring.
