Kenny’s Bookshop and Art Gallery, a Galway institution for more than 80 years, has been shortlisted for the An Post Bookshop of the Year 2021 award.
Kenny’s was announced this week as one of five regional winners, taking the prize for best bookshop in Connacht. Each regional winner will receive a certificate of recognition from the An Post Irish Book Awards.
Kenny’s, and the other five bookshops, will now go head-to-head for the overall prize which will be announced at the An Post Irish Book Awards on November 23 in the Convention Centre in Dublin. The winner will receive a prize of €5,000 worth of business services from An Post Commerce.

The ‘An Post Bookshop of the Year’ category was added to the award line-up this year to acknowledge the significant role played by independent bookshops and local book store chain branches across the State for their role in the life of their communities, particularly during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A one-hour special will be broadcast on RTÉ 1 television on Wednesday December 8 exploring the six books, including The Kenny Bookshop and Art Gallery shortlisted for the awards.
