Medtronic plc, a global leader in medical technology, services and solutions, this week announced a new manufacturing facility in Galway that will manufacture the market-leading IN.PACT® Admiral® drug-coated balloon (DCB) for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD). PAD is a build-up of plaque in arteries throughout the body leading to reduced blood flow to the limbs, organs, and the brain. Patients with PAD are at higher risk for stroke and heart attack.

German company phenox GmbH is to establish a medical device manufacturing facility in Galway, creating up to 65 jobs over five years.The development is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.phenox Ireland Ltd. will manufacture interventional neurovascular medical devices for the treatment of aneurysms and stroke.

The recent success of EssentialSkillz in world markets was recognised by Deloitte in their Technology Fast 50 Awards for 2015. The awards, according to Deloitte, demonstrate the strength of the indigenous technology sector in Ireland. Cumulatively, the 2015 Fast 50 winners generated approximately €480 million in total annual revenues in 2014. The average revenue of companies featuring on the ranking was €9.5 million, while the average growth rate of the companies over the last four years was 540%.

However, a job has become available in another company close to where I live but the catch is that it has a significantly lower salary. Maybe this has been updated for cents and euros I’m not sure but as part of the recent Budget documentation, a report on the VAT cost for charities was released by the Department of Finance. Its main findings and representations were put forward by the Irish charities Tax Reform Group, a working group formed to examine proposals of reducing the VAT burden on charities in Ireland.
