Truffles and Bubbles at Lisloughrey Lodge

Following on from the hugely successful Pink Afternoon in aid of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute held in Lisloughrey Lodge, Mairead Geehan, events manager at the lodge, is producing a Truffles and Bubbles evening to give additional support to this great charity. This event forms part of a co-ordinated effort by Mairead to raise €10,000 for breast cancer research in the Galway and Mayo region.

Truffles and Bubbles will be a fashion show and cocktail party in Lisloughrey Lodge on Thursday September 3. Mandy Maher of Catwalk Model Agency will be co-ordinating the show, with hair by Bellisimo and make-up by Jane Ardele. Many well known shops and designers are taking part including Claire Garvey Designs, Colette Latchford, Design Platform, Eye World, Designer Helen James, The Hidden Closet, Lilly’s Jewellery & Accessories, Madison, McGuire’s Shoes, Meg, Okinara House of Fashion, Squisito Boutique, and milliner Suzie Mahony.

Mayo Women’s Support charity ball

C&C Cellular will host a charity ball on August 22 in Breaffy House Hotel to raise money for Mayo Women’s Support Services and Mayo Cancer.

Tickets are €50 each or better still, reserve a table of 10 or 12; provide an auction or raffle item or a spot prize; give a donation or sponsor part of the night — champagne reception (€600), table wine (€1,000), or the starter and dessert (€1,000). MC on the night will be Tommy Marren and music will be provided by the Irish Knights.

AIB funding assists Riding for the Disabled group

The Castlebar branch of Riding for the Disabled Ireland has purchased new riding equipment for the children and a storage cabin, thanks to funding from AIB Castlebar. The funding, awarded under AIB’s Better Ireland Programme, is being used to enhance the children’s riding experiences at several stables across Mayo.

Mayo donations to Trócaire save lives in the poorest countries

Mayo people donated €455,814 to Trócaire’s work over the past year, the charity’s latest accounts have shown. During Lent last year people from the diocese of Killala gave €104,710, while Tuam diocese donated €424,695, both of which include parts of Mayo.
