Continuing the theme of Dump the Junk Thursdays, Mayo General Hospital has introduced a new menu. It’s bright and colourful, and jam packed with meal ideas.
The menu depicts the meal options for the week. The majority of children who are admitted to hospital only stay a short time, but some children are admitted for a little longer and it is nice to know what’s on for tomorrow’s menu.
Parents often ask for a menu plan for a week and this new menu provides this information, giving families ideas on meal planning for home.
Always trying to promote a healthier lifestyle, on the reverse of the menu is a picture of the children’s food pyramid and the idea is to encourage children once they are well to think about the food they are eating and to strive to achieve the recommended intake from each food group.
