The Castlebar branch of Riding for the Disabled Ireland has purchased new riding equipment for the children and a storage cabin, thanks to funding from AIB Castlebar. The funding, awarded under AIB’s Better Ireland Programme, is being used to enhance the children’s riding experiences at several stables across Mayo.
The Castlebar branch of this group has been in operation for nearly 15 years, providing riding lessons to children with special needs as well as teaching them to be confident around animals. Until now the group has had to borrow tack and other riding equipment, so thanks to the AIB Better Ireland Programme they have now been able to purchase their own equipment. Pony riding is hugely beneficial to the children, allowing them to build their confidence, balance and co-ordination.
