Martin Mulkerrins was named Connacht Men’s Player of the Year for 2018 after becoming the first Galway man to win the senior 40x20 All Ireland Championship. He also captained Team Ireland at the World Championships in Minnesota where he reached the 40x20 final, losing out in two tight games to Killian Carroll.

Huge fixtures for both clubs, An Spidéal became the first Galway club to claim the Connacht crown in eight years when they overcame Roscommon outfit Feurty by 1-14 to 0-16, while Oranmore Maree are favourites to advance to this year's decider.

Maree defeated the Dublin side 88-59 in the first game of the season in Dublin, and they will be hotly fancied to advance to the cup final, with either Ulster Elks or Portlaoise Panthers providing the opposition at the end of the month.

Proud coaches of the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Gym Clodagh & Pete Foley from Annaghdown with their eleven year old son Finn who passed his Junior Black Belt Grading test recently with an A+ result.Finn will have to wait until he turns 16 before being eligible to test for his 1st Dan Black Belt but he is well on track.Finn has been training in the sport of Kickboxing for seven and a half years and is an active fighter with the club.He will fight on the undercard of the upcoming International Ireland V France Team Event in the Clayton Hotel on Saturday February 23 where he will face off with a Mayo opponent.
