Minor footballers will face Kildare or Laois in quarter-finals in a fortnight

The Galway minor footballers will face either Kildare or Laois in the All-Ireland quarter-finals in two weeks time after an impressive 1-9 to 0-6 Connacht final victory over Mayo last Sunday in Pearse Stadium.

The Connacht champions will face the losers of the Leinster minor final which is on this Sunday at Croke Park.

Roscommon and Galway need to up their game for Connacht final replay

The senior footballers of Galway and Roscommon will head to McHale Park in Castlebar next Sunday to battle it out for the Nestor Cup (3.30pm) after drawing last weekend’s Connacht final on a score-line of 0-13 to 1-10 in Pearse Stadium. Both teams will go in knowing that they have the criticism of many GAA pundits and fans - some of it unjustified - rebounding from social media, print outlets, and the national wireless and TV.

Galway minors now face Mayo

Following their impressive win over Roscommon in Kiltoom in the Connacht semi-final, the Galway minors will take on Mayo this Sunday in the Connacht final at 12 noon in the curtain raiser to the senior final at Pearse Stadium.

Senior club football championship kicks off this weekend

After a few weekends of exciting club championship hurling action, the football clubs swing into competitive championship fare this Saturday and Sunday with both the seniors and intermediates kicking off.

There are a myriad of football fixtures down for decision over the weekend. However two double headers on Saturday in Tuam Stadium and Pearse Stadium, and a another double header on Sunday in Pearse Stadium, genuinely catch the eye.
