St Thomas gunning for a second senior hurling title on Sunday

All roads lead to Pearse Stadium this Sunday for the eagerly anticipated county senior hurling final featuring Gort and St Thomas (3.30pm).
Both sides know what is required to win in three days. Gort were Galway senior champions in 2014 and 2011, while St Thomas collected their first and only senior title four years ago in 2012.

The mind games are well under way with some former Dublin players and mentors trying to get into the head of referee Maurice Deegan in relation to Lee Keegan. It is farcical to say the least as they portray Keegan's sparring partner Diarmuid Connolly with a halo. Keegan is a born winner who plays on the edge with an impeccable disciplinary record. The only red card he received was against Kerry two years ago in the semi-final draw which of course was rescinded, enough said. Mind your own house.

The Galway County Board announced earlier this week that both senior hurling manager Micheal Donoghue and senior football manager Kevin Walsh have been ratified for a new three year term from 2017-2019.
In his second year in charge Killannin's Walsh led Galway footballers to the Connacht title with an impressive victory over Roscommon before losing out to Tipperary in the All Ireland quarter final.
